NYT Connections Hints & Answers Today
NYT Connections is a tricky puzzle game for anyone. It requires critical thinking and brainstorming to find a connection between words. To help you solve it, we provide free Connections hints, clues, and direct answers you can reveal whenever you get stuck.
ⓘ Note: Some of these Connections clues might contain spoilers. So, carefully reveal each hint.
What is NYT Connections?
NYT Connections is an online game developed by The New York Times. The game challenges players to find a connection between words to test their thinking ability, which is why it is called Connections.
The mechanism of the Connections game is simple. You get sixteen words in random order and have to find four groups of connected words. There are four color groups: yellow, green, blue, and purple. Yellow is the most straightforward, and purple is the trickiest.
The New York Times has also developed other word games like Wordle, Strands, and Letter Boxed. You can try them for free and test your knowledge. These games are just as challenging as NYT Connections, and for extra help you can check out Wordle hints today, where you will find different clues to help you find today's Wordle answer without losing your streak.
Each group in Connections has four words you need to discover. You only get four tries to solve the daily puzzle, and you cannot repeat a puzzle once it resets. Your goal is to find the hidden connections between words without using all four tries, so you can keep a good streak going and share it with other NYT Connections players.
How to Use NYT Connections Hints?
The purpose of our NYT Connections hints and helper is simple: help you solve your puzzle and keep your streak going, nothing more and nothing less. There is nothing to type in and nothing to solve. Every hint and answer is already prepared for you to reveal whenever you need it.
You can use these hints to get an idea about word connections, see a group name, or reveal words to find the answers outright. How you use our Connections helper depends on how stuck you are. Here is how to get the most out of it.
Use “See Hint” to learn about categories
The See Hint option will not give you a direct answer for a group or word connection. Instead, it gives you a quick clue about what each color group means.
For example, if one of the category names is Cricket, the hint might read: a sport where two teams play against each other with bat and ball. That is the kind of quick clue this Connections helper provides.
Use “See Group” to understand connections between words
The See Group section reveals the name of the category or group. This helps you understand the connection between words and eventually find all four words in that category. Simply click See Group on any color to reveal that Connections clue.
Use “See Word” to get answers to NYT Connections (Spoiler!)
If you are completely stuck, you can reveal all four words in a color category. Clicking See Word gives you the exact words in that group, so you can solve the puzzle and protect your streak.
Understanding the NYT Connections Colors
All four colors in the Connections puzzle carry a different difficulty level. Yellow is the most straightforward, and purple is the trickiest. Understanding each one will help you use our Connections hints and helper more effectively.
|
Yellow 🟡 |
This color category usually has a simple connection. The words are often synonyms or antonyms of each other. |
|
Green 🟢 |
Slightly more complex than yellow, with a less obvious connection. Similar sounding words sometimes fall into this group. |
|
Blue 🔵 |
Harder than yellow and green, requiring more in-depth thinking and brainstorming to find the connection between words. |
|
Purple 🟣 |
The trickiest group in the whole puzzle. Most players get stuck here, and the word connections are often intentionally misleading. |
Strategies to Solve Connections NYT in 2026
Here are some useful tips and strategies to solve the NYT Connections puzzle faster and with fewer mistakes
Read out all the words loudly
This trick works most of the time. Reading all sixteen words out loud helps you catch similar sounding words. There is almost always a synonym category, so if two or three words share a similar meaning, they likely belong together.
Even words that sound alike or share similar spelling can fall under the same category. In a previous Connections puzzle, the green category included Litter, Pepper, Scatter, and Sprinkle, all connected by a shared theme.
The image shows the results of Connections game #836, highlighting the green category.
So, if you start reading all sixteen words of the NYT Connections puzzle loudly, you might get a hint to solve the puzzle.
Always Move with a Plan
Every guess should be well planned. Since you only get four tries to solve all four categories, there is no room for random guesses. Read through the words carefully and only submit a group once you feel confident about the connection.
Wasting a try on a random guess will not bring you closer to solving today's NYT Connections puzzle unless you get lucky.
Use Connections hints to get help
There is nothing wrong with using hints to solve NYT Connections. Our Connections hints give you a clear idea of each color category, its theme, and the four words inside it.
If you are down to your last try and stuck on just one word, losing your streak can feel frustrating. In that situation, use our Connections helper and reveal a group or word to keep your streak alive.
Never Fall for that “One Away” Message
The One Away message appears when three out of four words are correct and one is wrong. Since you do not know which word is the mistake, do not panic and guess again blindly. Try a different combination instead.
Remember, you only get four tries total, so acting on a One Away message without a plan can waste your remaining attempts.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a Connections solver where I enter letters or clues?
No. This page is not an interactive solver you type into. It gives you spoiler-free hints first, then the full answer for each color group, already prepared and ready to reveal, so there is nothing to enter and nothing to compute.
Does this page work as a Connections helper if I am completely stuck?
Yes. If hints alone are not enough, our Connections helper lets you reveal the full group names or the exact words for any color category, so you can finish the puzzle and protect your streak.
Where can I find NYT Connections answers, not just hints?
Use the See Word option next to any color group on this page. It reveals the direct answers for that category, while the rest of the puzzle stays hidden until you choose to reveal it.
How many tries do I get in NYT Connections?
You get four tries to correctly group all sixteen words into their four categories. Once you use all four tries without solving the puzzle, that day's Connections game ends.
Does NYT Connections reset every day?
Yes. A new NYT Connections puzzle is released every day, and you cannot go back and replay a previous day's puzzle once it has reset.
What is the difference between the Wordle hints page and the Connections hints page?
Our Wordle hints today page focuses only on the daily Wordle five-letter word, while this Connections hints page focuses on the daily sixteen-word grouping puzzle. Both are updated every day, and both offer spoiler-free hints before revealing the full answer.
